Around the end of December each year, when many people are preparing their blogs for the holiday period, some of us often end up writing posts in preparation for the time that we are likely to take away from blogging and with our families. But what could possibly happen is that we end up scheduling a post in January, BUT we forget to change the year, and end up publishing a post in January of the year we are posting.
For example, I was writing a post on December 23 2008, and was planning to publish it on January 3 2009. But, I changed the month, and the date, but I forgot to change the year, so the post ended up being 'published' on January 3 2008, significantly out of place. This happened to Darren Rowse from ProBlogger this year.
Allan Collins was busy writing this plugin in the first few days of this year. Past Warning is a very simple plugin that has a popup that warns you if you attempt to publish a post in the past, particularly the previous year.
I personally would only see this plugin being useful when you are preparing posts for January of the following year when you are writing them in December, otherwise I would probably have this plugin disabled.
If you have any comments or suggestions about this plugin, feel free to forward them to Allan at his blog.
